Cape May, New Jersey is a treat for birders. Mid-September to mid-October is the high season with an abundance of raptors, shorebirds and songbirds. Common sightings include osprey, American kestrel, merlin, peregrine falcon, northern harrier and sharp-shinned and Cooper’s hawks; black-bellied plover, American golden-plover, ruddy turnstone, western sandpiper, sanderling, and dunlin; as well as warblers, swallows, wrens, sparrows, and buntings.
